The original ‘Bowmans’ company was established in 1857 as a family-run milling business. The CEO of the company today is Rory Bowman, the great-great-grandson of the founder.
The UK headquarters in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, houses the Ingredients and Milling divisions. In South Africa, Australia and Thailand the manufacturing sites who also feature production facilities for food coatings and flour.

Food coating systems
Bowman Ingredients control of the manufacturing process, produces a full range of dry cereal-based coating systems for frozen and chilled food applications. Their coatings include breadcrumbs, batter mixes, dry mix marinades and breaders for meat, poultry, fish, seafood, potato and vegetable products.
The breadcrumb coatings are used to produce value-added food products for leading food brands, major retailers, restaurant chains and quick service restaurants.
Typical applications include crunchy, golden breadcrumb coatings for convenience foods including fish, poultry and vegetables. The unique pressure baked crumb production process allows us to precisely and consistently control the texture and appearance of our breadcrumbs. In addition to wheat-based coatings, we produce a wide range of gluten free crumb systems.
Bowman Ingredients also supply breadcrumb and gluten free crumb systems for use as a filler or binding agent in processed meat products, such as burgers and sausages.
